This was the question on his mind when he stood up from the bench in Kiev, gave Tommy an insecure, frightened look, and backed away. At the time, what he was hearing wasn’t exactly what Tommy was saying to him, or after a few steps farther, shouting at him. It was his own conscience screaming at him in his head. It was the answer to the question.

It’s like if you make the slightest move, you’d be disrespecting the world. That’s when a loud knock is heard on Tommy’s hotel room. And when he turns to the door, the sound is so unbelievable in the serene loneliness of his room, that he almost thinks he imagined it. Yet after a moment, he stands up from his chair by the window, and goes to the door.
